 The Light Eaters by Zoë Schlanger examines the often-overlooked intelligence of plants. This digital adaptation centers on the Cornish Mallow, a plant that “remembers” cycles of sunrise and sunset to optimize its exposure to the sun.

Through a sequence of concise animations, the narrative illustrates how the Mallow relies on this internal “memory” and invites viewers to consider whether such behavior qualifies as plant intelligence.
